My basil is taking over, and all my other herbs are very small.

Basil is a very fast grower relative to the woodier herbs in the Gourmet Herb Seed Kit. For this reason it is very important to prune basil early in its growth, as shown in the Tending and Harvesting Guide. If it is not pruned early and often, it is easy for it to outgrow the other herbs, eventually robbing them of the light they need for full development and prolific growth.

If the basil has outgrown the other herbs you will need to prune the basil down by a third of its height, and then lower the lights as much as possible without burning the top of the basil leaves. Lowering the lights will stimulate the other herbs to grow. It will probably be necessary to prune the basils more than once to keep them in check while the other, slower-growing herbs have a chance to catch up.

Complete pruning instructions are provided in the Herb Series Tending and Harvesting Guide, which is available online by clicking here.
