Can I transplant my Seed Pods outside?

Yes, you can transplant pods from your AeroGarden outside into the soil - but you must baby them a bit between taking them out of the AeroGarden and putting them in full sun and wind outside.

We recommend that the Seed Pods you wish to transplant outdoors be potted first into good quality potting soil with a high vermiculite or perlite content, and that you keep them extra wet for the first several days. This will allow them to develop the root systems they will need to pull water and nutrients from the soil.

It is also best to gradually increase their exposure time outdoors over several days before leaving them outside permanently, which will allow them to develop the tougher stems they will need to resist wind.

You will notice as you take the plants out of the AeroGarden that the roots will be intergrown with the pod. This is fine - just plant the whole pod in the soil. You may carefully cut away the rigid plastic basket if you wish, but do not try to extricate the roots from the Grow Sponge or you will damage the roots.
